The Unique Child Project

Are current education systems really keeping up with the radical transformations that are occurring in the learning environment? We have probably never lived through such a creative and innovating period of human development and the needs of the 21st century learner are profoundly different to that of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Across the world children are demonstrating their extraordinary capacities in ways that confound adult expectations. Learning is no longer confined to the classroom but is happening everywhere and in unpredictable forms. There is an urgent need to now re-examine our interpretation of what education is all about and how it is serving the vibrant engagement of the learner rather than merely academic achievement.

Every child comes into the world with unique dispositions and capacities. We are not clones, but are, instead, designed to be good at some things and less so at others. It is this difference that leads us to find out what empowers us and provides us with a sense of personal meaning and purpose. It is also this that is at the core of the creative process and that leads us to be imaginative thinkers and innovators.

The Unique Child Project aims to unite people who are exploring these issues and who are working to transform our current understanding of learning environments.
